T-shirt manufacturers encourage healthy habits

US clothing companies, such as
t-shirt manufacturer American Apparel, are urging employees to make healthy lifestyle choices, a report claims.
The
t-shirt company has bought push bikes for its staff, along with locks and helmets, to encourage them to take up cycling, reports the Associated Press.
In addition to urging its workers to exercise, the company has also hosted a screening of Fast Food Nation - a call to arms against poor diet - in a bid to instil healthy eating practices among its workforce.
Meanwhile, outdoor clothing manufacturer LL Bean has introduced a new initiative whereby production lines are shut down several times a day to allow workers to take breaks so they can stretch, in an attempt to eliminate the most common work-related injuries.
"It's a safety measure, just as we would ask someone to wear safety glasses if there's a danger of hurting their eyes," Susan Tufts, LL Bean's employee wellness programme manager, told the news provider.
LL Bean was founded in 1912 and is now a global concern, headquartered in Maine, with annual sales of $1.5 billion.
The firm makes outerwear, including
polo shirts, sweatshirts and t-shirts.
