Norwich City Football Club has raised over £7,000 for the Royal British Legion's (RBL) Poppy Appeal by auctioning its limited edition poppy
t-shirts on eBay.
In keeping with a number of clubs who had
t-shirts printed with poppies to mark Armistice Day on November 11th, the Canaries wore the shirts in their game against West Brom last month.
All 25 of the
t-shirts were then put up against each other for bidding on eBay, reports the Norwich Evening News.
Captain Adam Drury's
t-shirt raised the highest amount, fetching £770 after the ten-day auction, while in total, the sale raised £7,500.
Ben Thompson, marketing assistant at Norwich City Football Club, told the newspaper: "It was at £600 and in the last hour it just went mad and it raised £770.
"It's fantastic . . . it's such a good cause and we didn't expect to do that well. We thought we would give a starting price of £20 and if we got that back then it would be good, but raising £770 for Drury's shirt is amazing."
A number of other clubs, including Manchester City Football Club, have supported the RBL by auctioning limited edition poppy
t-shirts.
