Students from the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) and from Guildford College have launched a new
t-shirt in support of their fellow students.
The six girls had noticed the positive contributions of African American men in their community were going unrecognised, reports the News-Record, and decided to launch a
new t-shirt in support of them.
Focused around the
tees, they created the King's Campaign, to recognise the contributions of black men at their colleges and in the community.
The
tee-shirts, which are emblazoned with a quote from black scholar William Edward Burghardt DuBois, are to be worn during a march at the UNCG campus next week.
"I honestly feel like the easiest way and the most powerful way to make clear what you stand for, is to wear it," Natasha Lake, one of the campaign's organisers, told the News-Record.
Some 300
t-shirts have been sold in two weeks.
Meanwhile, a new online firm has been established which supports patients with chronic medical conditions through
humerous tee-shirts.
MedTees was set up by a cardiologist and psychologist, and prints humorous quotes from patients on to
plain t-shirts in a bid raise awareness of the issues surrounding illness.
