Fashion designer supports cancer charity with t-shirts
Tuesday 21st of November 2006 12:30:00 PM

American fashion designer Carmen Marc Valvo is set to support Breakaway from Cancer with limited edition
t-shirts.
A cancer survivor himself, Valvo has joined forces with biotechnology firm Amgen to design the
t-shirts in order to raise awareness and funds.
Different
t-shirts will be available for men and women, while the tees feature an abstract design with metallic gold spherical shapes.
"Designing the Breakaway from Cancer
t-shirts was a therapeutic exercise for me. In many ways it helped me come full circle from my own diagnosis three years ago," said Valvo.
"The design reflects the motion and energy of cycling, of setting a goal and reaching for the gold."
The move is a break from Valvo's usual women's eveningwear designs, with his customers including Hollywood leading ladies such as Beyonce Knowles, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kim Cattrall.
Breakaway from Cancer is an educational initiative formed last year by Amgen in accordance with the Amgen Tour of California - a professional cycling race.
The whole purchase price of the Valvo
t-shirts will be used to support the scheme.
