Sweatshirts collected for charity
Tuesday 07th of November 2006 01:20:00 PM
Sweatshirts and other warm items of clothing are being gathered in the name of charity in the Polk County area of Texas.
In addition to
sweatshirts, hats, gloves, scarves and coats will be collected in what is known as the Warm and Fuzzy clothing drive, reports the Statesman Journal.
Donations of clean adult and children's clothing are accepted throughout November before they are distributed to organisations which help citizens during the colder months.
Warm and Fuzzy was founded 20 years ago by charitable local couple Greg and Deb Darr. Mr Darr started the programme by collecting socks, coats and other warm clothing items during the winter, his wife told the newspaper.
Organisations which benefit for the clothing collection include the Polk County Health Department, the state Adult and Family Services Department and the Sable House women's shelter.
Last month, a charity ball hosted by Russell Athletic, a clothing manufacturer, supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through the use of
sweatshirts.
