A fan of Morcambe football club is planning to raise money by auctioning a t-shirt signed by Brazilian football star Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pele, it has emerged.
In support of Brain Tumour UK this summer, Matt Deighton took part in a challenge to collect donations and football memorabilia for auction, reports Morcambe Today.
Mr Deighton told the newspaper his cousin Naill, who came by the t-shirt in 2001, donated it for him to sell: "Niall works for ITV; he was filming a promotion for the FA Cup involving football legend Pele [. . .] so he bought a Brazil shirt on the way and the great man autographed it."
"I couldn't quite believe it and didn't until it arrived through the post," he added.
The t-shirt has a letter of authenticity and Mr Deighton hopes it will attract large bids on eBay in support of Brain Tumour UK.
The news comes as a new t-shirt for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is unveiled, with musical Mamma Mia! serving as the muse, according to Broadway World.
