University promotes art with t-shirt making event

The University of Minnesota is set to hold a t-shirt making day sponsored by its art department.
A free event, which is open to all, the day offers individuals the chance to design their own shirt at the Printmaking Studios in the university's Regis Centre for Art.
With the aim of encouraging an "enthusiasm for the arts", the department will print an original work of art on plain t-shirts that participants bring, representing an opportunity for young t-shirt designers to display their work.
Recently, the Chicago Defender reported on two young t-shirt designers presenting a unique take on how fabrics can be used.
Kyoshia Yoshi Williams and Ebony Thurman, both 23, are customising their own t-shirts and have decided to set up their own company Trois Chemises Couture.
Speaking of customising her own t-shirts, Ms Williams told the newspaper she is trying "to do something that not everyone else is doing".
