A production of the classic musical Grease opens this week at Newcastle's newly refurbished Theatre Royal, with plain white t-shirts helping costume designers from the show.

The musical is set in the 1950s, with the leading actors Hayley Evetts and Jarrod Carland seen in t-shirts as part of their numerous costumes, reports the Evening Chronicle.

Taking the inspiration from leading lady Sandy's cheerleading outfit, Evetts appears in a red layered skirt, coupled with a plain white t-shirt.

Meanwhile, her beau Danny – Carland – renowned for his cool style, appears in a classic tight white t-shirt under a black jacket, teamed with black jeans and black braces.

Recently, Fox News indicated that t-shirts would be used at Halloween fancy dress parties this year, as partygoers try to emulate the stars.

The news provider recommended a Paris Hilton look, which could be achieved using a plain white t-shirt, red accessories and skinny jeans.
