A display at Kent State University's Student Center, Ohio, uses the bright colours of t-shirts on a washing line to get people thinking about more serious issues.
The t-shirts, which are displayed in all shapes and sizes, have been designed by victims of domestic violence at Safer Futures shelter in Portage County, with the artwork coming as part of an awareness raising initiative.
Known as the Clothesline Project, the display observes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, reports the Akron Beacon Journal.
T-shirts used in the exhibition are colour-coded, with those designed on a white background commemorating the lives of those who have died because of violence.
Red, pink, orange blue and green t-shits also feature to represent victims of sexual assault and incest, while purple t-shirts are dedicated to women or men attacked because of their sexual orientation and black is used for victims of politically motivated attacks.
Safer Futures provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence in the state.
