New technology could allow mobile phone users to charge their handsets using their shirts, t-shirts or sweatshirts.
So says cell manufacturer G24i, when describing the next generation of solar power technology, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The technology will be available from next year and could be incorporated into fabrics to make 'smart textiles' the firm indicates.
A number of other smart fabrics specialists in the UK are currently developing textiles which allow wearers to operate electronic devices, such as MP3 players, using their clothes, reports Inteletex.
Meanwhile, the G24i technology will initially be applied to products such as mobile phones, laptops and games consoles.
Using the solar cells, which are said to be one 50th of the weight of a normal solar panel, to clothes would allow the wearer to generate electricity, G24i states.
This in turn would allow t-shirt wearers to charge their phone handsets.
