Wednesday 11th of October 2006 11:40:00 AM

A display of contemporary textiles, including t-shirts, will feature in an exhibition which could be of interest to small businesses in the apparel finishing industry.
The Embroiderers' Guild, a leading crafts association in the UK, is holding the exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery to mark its 100th anniversary, with the aim of bringing embroidery to a wide audience.
Featuring costumes, large wall hangings, small textiles and accessories, the exhibition – A Scottish Celebration - will take place until November 25th and displays the work of some of the greatest exponents of embroidery, according to fibre2fashion.
Pieces by Kathleen Whyte will be shown, along with the work of young embroiderers, with the display not only showcasing talent, but hoping to encourage craftsmen.
Some 240 submissions were made from around Scotland and the work of 100 embroiderers will feature, giving small t-shirt and polo shirt finishing companies the potential to gain new skills.
