Polo shirt manufacturer announces new deal

Apparel marketer Kellwood has announced an agreement with US clothing and polo shirt manufacturer Phillips-Van Heusen.
Phillips-Van Heusen, parent of sportswear and apparel brand Calvin Klein, has agreed to extend the Calvin Klein women's better sportswear license, which covers t-shirts and polo shirts, for North America until 2012.
In addition, Kellwood will have a renewal option to 2017, while the distributor will hold the ck Calvin Klein women's bridge sportswear license for North America, taking over from AA2 LLC.
Robert C Skinner, Kellwood chairman and chief executive, said: "We have great respect and admiration for the Phillips-Van Heusen team and value our partnership through our ongoing license of Calvin Klein women's better sportswear."
He welcomed the deal, which would give the firm the opportunity "to develop the ck Calvin Klein women's bridge sportswear line as well".
Recently, Calvin Klein announced a partnership to bring its t-shirts and polo shirts closer to the Indian market.
The US-based manufacturer has agreed an exclusive distribution deal with Murjani India, allowing it to sell clothing in the country.
