Park keepers are set to return to south-east London sporting a uniform of burgundy polo shirts.
The keepers, who are working in the parks of Lewisham and are easily identifiable in their polo-shirt uniforms, have been welcomed for creating a better environment in the parks of Lewisham, reports the South London Press.
Park keeper Don Perrier, of Manor House Gardens, told the newspaper: "Older people tell me they feel safer and I'm particularly pleased with the reaction from younger people.
"Often they tell me if they have seen any trouble," he added.
With the polo shirts having replaced the previous peaked caps of the park keepers, the introduction of permanent wardens forms part of Lewisham Council's Visibly Safer campaign.
There are currently ten permanent park keepers in Lewisham's parks, who have their own built-for-purpose shelters.
A total of three new keepers started this year at Hilly Fields, Telegraph Hill and Ladywell Park.
