Small businesses are increasingly taking advantage of viral marketing opportunities to sell t-shirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts, according to a report.

Podcast videos can be used by small businesses and up-and-coming designers to promote printed and plain t-shits on video sharing sites such as Youtube.com, t-shirt watch reports.

The sites offer small businesses an opportunity to produce low-budget commercials and to generate site traffic.

It is free to post the advertisements, with small businesses needing access to a video recorder to shoot the t-shirt ad.

In related news, new innovations in textiles are bringing electronics to apparel such as sweatshirts and coats.

The new technologies offer the design controls for electronic goods, such as MP3 players and iPods, built into clothes fabric, according to Inteletex.

For example, smart fabrics manufacturer Eleksen provides touch-sensitive material for wireless keyboards, while wearable textile electronics specialist Peratech provides iJackets with textile iPod controls.
