A head teacher at Caldwell Elementary School has praised the responses of students following the school's decision to adopt a uniform consisting of white polo shirts and black trousers.
The school in Nashville, US, has apparently seen a reduced incidence of violence following the introduction of the uniform, reports the Nashville City Paper.
Principal Carlos Comer said the dress code has reduced the number of office referrals from children who are bullying each other.
He told the newspaper: "A lot of times that has to do with dress, what they're wearing."
Other school administrators in the area are likely to change their policy to follow suit, introducing the white polo shirts in their schools.
In fact, the Metro Board of Education is set to meet to discuss the introduction of a district-wide dress code.
Meanwhile, in the UK, the Office of Fair Trading has urged schools to end their exclusive school uniform retailing practices, making uniform pieces, such as white polo shirts, available for general purchase.
