Electronic products are being brought to apparel, such as coats and sweatshirts, following alliances with major brands, a report indicates.
The wearable electronic products are set to be introduced on the back of the success of Apple's iPod, according to Inteletex.
New launches include design controls for the iPod system, while some firms have added push-to-talk technologies to jackets and sweatshirts.
Meanwhile, smart fabrics manufacturer Eleksen is providing touch-sensitive material for the wireless keyboard recently introduced by G-Tech, a Massachusetts-based software firm.
Another firm to offer electronic textiles is Peratech, a North Yorkshire wearable textile electronics specialist, which has just signed a deal with Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna to provide iJackets with textile iPod controls.
In related news, sports apparel, including t-shirts, sweatshirts and polo-shirts, could become increasingly environmentally friendly, as analysts predict growth in the organic cotton market.
