Luxury t-shirt, polo-shirt and underwear manufacturer Calvin Klein has announced a deal which will bring the firm closer to the Indian market.
The US-based manufacturer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement Murjani India, that will allow it to sell women's and men's apparel in the country.
"We have been evaluating the potential of the Indian market for an extended period of time," said Tom Murray, the firm's president and chief operating officer.
"We feel strongly that over the next decade this region will become a very important part of our global business," he added.
Phillips-Van Heusen is one of the world's largest clothing firms, owning and marketing several brands worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Murjani Group has several exclusive agreements with other major international manufacturers, in addition to developing and marketing its own international brand Gloria Vanderbilt.
