T-Shirts and Sweats Will Always Be Popular Active Wear

Marketing gurus in the sports apparel market have decided that there is an underserved market to be found among young female exercisers who are also fashion forward thinking. These are the women who want athletic clothes that are stylish and not just practical. Many of the big clothing manufacturers are jumping into this underserved market too. Companies like Gap, Under Armour, Forever 21, Inc., Target Corporation and others see women’s active wear as a growing market with plenty of room for competition.

Of course, the traditional comfortable t-shirts and sweats still rule the clothing market for exercisers. But fashion wear has mostly catered to men in the past and now there is a void to fill among women. Since athletic wear for women has catered to men, the clothing for women has been mostly men’s clothing cut down to a smaller size. Yet women and men are built differently physically so the new athletic clothing for women is designed to fit a woman’s body better.

Even companies like Victoria’s Secret are joining the athletic clothing market for women. Of course, Victoria’s Secret wants to add a bit of glam to exercise wear. Their website offers a “bling bootcut yoga pant” that is trimmed with rhinestones. The ad reads, “Look hot when you work out or hang out. Be a yoga superstar.”

The days of wearing sweatshirts are not over though. After a nice long sweaty workout, it’s easy to get chilled. In the winter it’s important to stay warm so a body warming sweatshirt is exactly what’s needed to be worn over fashionable exercise wear.

Of course, the new active wear is expensive. A couple of designer shirts can cost over $125. Why would a woman pay that much? One lady said she wears the expensive clothing for women because it hides physical imperfections and reduces the amount of jiggling. Of course, you could pay a fraction of that amount and get a nice t-shirt that will do the same thing.

One thing is for certain - women’s workout attire is becoming more popular and it’s a trend expected to continue. Whether you choose leopard print yoga pants or soft cotton t-shirts or sweatshirts clothing to sweat in has become fashionable!
