Low Key and Modest T-Shirts

Tuesday 18th of January 2011 02:25:46 AM

Low Key and Modest T-ShirtsSocial media has created a world where everyone can be famous in their own way. Whereas fame was once elusive, you can now have your own website, Twitter messages to your heart’s content and promote yourself on Facebook or LinkedIn or other sites. But there is a problem with fame some people have discovered. The incidences of identity theft, online bullying and other unpleasant activities are driving people back into anonymity.

When you walk around with a PDA and the world can find you in an instant, anonymity can sound wonderful. And anonymity is showing up in unusual ways. For example, the Milanese fashion shows held in January didn’t have the usual loud eccentric clothing. Instead, the clothes were unostentatious for a change. They were low key and comfortable just like your t-shirts and sweatshirts.

Of course, the Milanese fashion show’s idea of low key is probably much different than yours or mine. For example, male models wore crayon red Dolce & Gabbana suits, mustard yellow Bottega Veneta suits, electric blue Versace jacket and bright red Alexander McQueen wool overcoat. But there were some almost simple men’s clothes too like the 2 button Umberto Angeloni suit with white shirt and tie.

There were also plenty of clothes that would work quite well with tees or sweaters. The corduroy coat, the slim fitting jeans and the army inspired coat are clothes that would pair perfectly with the simplest shirts.

Blending into the crowd is a lot easier with the new fashions unless you get attached to the electric blue or brilliant green suits. The austerity in the fashions reflects the continued struggles of the current economy. If the economy continues to improve though, you can expect to less somber clothes on the runways. Just keep watching for signs of color!
