The online site very.co.uk did a survey and asked its customers to vote on who they considered to be the most stylish celebrity. The only limiting factor was that the eligible celebrities had to be parents. In other words, the customers voted on the children and parents together who are the most stylish in their opinion.

The results of the survey are fascinating because in many cases it was the children who were considered to be the most stylish. They got more votes than their famous parents. You may like Madonna’s strange looking t-shirts worn under metal cones, but that seems to be a style that is out of style now. It was her daughter Lourdes who came out on top with 17% of customers choosing her style as their favorite. Second place winner was Suri Cruise who actually dresses more like a grown woman than a child who is 5 years old.

There were some parents that garnered more votes than their kids. They included Victoria Beckam, Nicole Richie and the ever beautiful Angelina Jolie.

Polls like the one taken by very.co.uk reflect what’s happening in the marketplace. Children’s clothing used to be simply practical but today parents want their kids to be dressed as stylish as adults. Mary Portas is an expert in the retail business and she said, “In the 60s women didn’t want to dress like their mothers. Now we’ve ended up with women dressing like their daughters.”

So mothers…if you are wondering what will look stylish today…maybe you need to ask your daughter instead of the saleslady at the department store. It may be that you need to be shopping for more tees and sweaters…or maybe sweatshirts and tights. It’s your vote!
