Polo Shirts Fit Right

Tuesday 10th of April 2012 01:14:52 AM

Polo Shirts Fit RightEver wonder why you wear a size 10 in one brand but a size 6 in a different one? There’s a good reason. The fashion industry really has no standard for sizing clothes despite the use of sizes in labels. When you go from brand to brand, the size may actually not mean much. It’s much easier to buy items like plain t-shirts and loose fitting polo shirts than it is to buy anything with waists like trousers or skirts.

One of the purposes of different sizing practices is to make people feel good about their size and weight. It’s a psychological trick in other words because in theory you feel better about yourself in a size 6 than you do in a size 10. Since the UK population is growing more obese all the time, it’s easier to change out labels than it is to lose weight.

We live in a culture that believes being super thin is beautiful. Since fashion is about beauty, the manufacturers want you to look at their clothes and think of yourself as beautiful.

Now the problem of clothing sizes is getting out of hand. Sizing varies between most brands and there is no consistency. Waistlines are being expanded and quite significantly too. Waists are being expanded by 1 to 5 inches. This practice is called vanity sizing which is an appropriate name.

Thank goodness you can still buy t-shirts and polo shirts without worrying about sizes except in a general sense. You can shop online and know that a medium is a medium and a large is a large. You don’t have to worry about trying to squeeze into a size based on its label rather than its cut. It makes shopping for clothes a whole lot more fun.
