You know you can easily shop online for sweatshirts and tees. Just a few clicks and your merchandise is on its way to be delivered to your doorstep. Internet shopping is usually thought of in terms of bargain shopping because there are so many great deals out there, but as more and more people shop online even the high end retailers are getting into the act.Though cheap t-shirts and sweatshirts are a staple item of clothing in every closet, it is the haute couture fashion designers that decided they were missing out on an opportunity to increase sales. For the first time, the fall Fashion Week fashion participants around the world, including Paris, New York, London and Milan, are letting online shoppers click and buy their expensive designs. In fact, during the fashion shows viewers could watch the models strutting the runway via webcam and then order any outfit that appealed to their tastes and fit their budget.
The new high tech approach to fashion is long overdue in the opinions of many people. It was not just online shopping carts that were added to the Fashion Week shows either. There were also moving billboards using projected video, high tech visitor lounges, streaming video on websites, and much more. It is the British design house Burberry that took the lead in online fashion shopping enabling shoppers to buy even as the models were prancing on the runways.
Technology is letting more people become involved in what was once the purview of only the wealthy. Thanks to online shopping sites, even the bargain hunter with a closet full of sweaters and cheap t-shirts can enjoy fashion week right from home. It’s a chance to join in the fun without the expense. Fashion designers are embracing the new technology because the recession has been particularly difficult on expensive brands. Adding the high tech features to the global Fashion Week events has given high couture a way to lure shoppers back.
