What is hot for fall 2011? Fashion insiders say t-shirts will continue to be hugely popular into the cooler months, a major part of fall fashion lines. T-shirts will be seen as a part of many mix and match collections, dressed up and dressed down.T-shirts have been very popular this summer – in fact, they were most likely summer’s biggest seller – and are situated to become fall’s biggest seller also. Why the sudden love for this inexpensive, simple piece of clothing?
T-shirts are easy to incorporate into an already existing wardrobe. They can become a part of a women’s business suit or paired with a dressier skirt for evening depending on the fabric and cut of the tee.
This past summer we saw t-shirts become a part of casual office wear. While summers are usually more casual, John Pope, a fashion industry expert, predicts this trend will continue. “T-shirts are comfortable and today’s business men and women are looking for comfort. They will include a t-shirt with their office wear if the fabric is right and if the style is acceptable,” states Pope.
If you plan to wear a tee as part of business wear, as Pope suggested, you will want a high quality cotton t-shirt or a silk t-shirt. Cotton tees are extremely durable and can be treated for colorfastness and to reduce shrinkage. They can also be cared for easily at home. Silk tees require a little more care and may need cleaning by a dry cleaner.
Colors for fall include earth tones and neutrals. This color palette also makes adding a tee to an existing wardrobe very easy. Browns, beiges, rusts, pine green, burnt sienna, and deep rustic reds will be found with saturated purples and fuchsias which give a pop of color.
It is great to know that you can tweak your wardrobe without having to do a complete overhaul! A few well thought out t-shirts in neutral colors, and one or two in eye popping brilliant colors, will completely transform last year’s fall wardrobe into fall 2011 style setting fashion trend.
