T-Shirts Go Upscale

T-shirts are taking on a new importance among young fashion fans. That’s because they are now being used to make outfits that look modern, trendy and upscale. Young people are turning more and more to fancier dress and avoiding the grunge look that was so popular for while.

Casual dress in the office and at dressy affairs has been in vogue for many years. Now the people over 20 years old are rebelling against the dress-down look and are dressing up instead. But that does not mean they are wearing stodgy looking outfits. Quite the opposite is true and that’s where clothing like plain t-shirts enters the picture. The idea of fancy clothing for the twenty-something is a nice t-shirt or tank top, a blazer, and jeans with fancy shoes. Or the outfit could be one of the coloured sweaters over a sequined cocktail dress. In other words, the new dress up outfits are a mix of dress up and dress down.

The great advantage of these kinds of outfits is they can be worn to a variety of occasions from the Christmas office party to a New Year’s Eve gala. And that is probably one of the fascinating features of the young generation of today. Having already endured an economic downturn in their young lives, they have learned much more about economizing and being thrifty than the previous generation. They have learned how to shop economically and then wear the inexpensive clothing in a way that makes the style look trendy and expensive.

Some of the interest in dressing up was created by the young television and movie stars that like to dress up. Millions of young adults around the world watch what stars their ages are wearing. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as the saying goes. Now it’s possible to imitate and still live within a budget.
