Let’s get physical! In the past, clothing designed for workouts was saggy and frumpy or embarrassingly ‘bare’. Today, workout wear is changing and offering a wide selection of comfortable, form fitting options with high performance fabrics. These new offerings present a great opportunity to promotional clothing companies looking for a new market.Workout wear has several basic requirements. First, it must keep the wearer cool when training. New performance fabrics offer such advanced technology as wicking and ‘thermocool’ technologies to keep athletes and everyday consumers cool and comfortable.
While many traditional clients look for 100 percent cotton plain t-shirts, Danny Centri finds that his ‘performance’ clients, as he calls his clients geared to workouts and athletics, steer more toward fabric blends. “The newest fabrics are blends of polyester and cotton, sometimes other natural fibers, that wick away sweat and moisture. The moisture leaves the body and is wicked to the outside of the t-shirt,” explains Centri.
Keeping dry and cool are important, however there are also other considerations that have gone into the new lines of performance tshirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and other athletic wear. One exciting addition this season is support for muscles. According to Centri, this is a new feature he is offering his clients. “Extra support in the fabric itself – built in support in the t-shirt- gives muscle support to the athlete. This is a hot ticket for me right now. When I go into a facility with something new, like this built in support, managers are ready to buy because they know their clients will want to purchase the shirts,” says Centri.
Gyms and other workout facilities have an added incentive to purchase performance promotional clothing. Logo transfers are possible on all styles of performance clothing and offer facilities instant, cost-effective advertising and branding!
