Online retailing has never been more popular with consumers than it is right now. In fact, the recession proved that the internet can play an important role in helping people manage their budgets. The number and amount of online consumer purchases continued to grow even during the poor economic conditions, because that’s where you can go to find bargains on everything from shoes to t-shirts and much more.The one thing consumers do expect now though is good service. That’s why IMRG has created a new programme named the Index of Consumer Experience (ICE). The purpose of the software programme is to create indices that quantity a consumers experience from beginning to end – from log on to the service provided after the sale of the products. The goal is provide valuable information to retailers on their customers’ experiences in order to determine how to better serve them.
The director or IMRG told Fashion United, ““This bold and original initiative supports our aims of helping individual performers raise their game and also boosting consumer confidence in online retailing. In future the customer experience will be the key factor in winning and keeping customers. ICE provides a unique and consistent measure to help businesses manage and develop their own customers’ experience.”
As online retailing matures, it has become apparent that a consumer has to have a positive buying experience online to become a loyal customer. The quality and level of customer service impacts brand image and company reputation. A customer who has a bad experience will simply find another store online. It doesn’t matter what people are shopping for either. They can be looking for expensive jewelry or cheap t-shirts online. Either way today’s savvy consumer expects to get excellent customer service.
IMRG recognizes retailers need help identifying consumer needs. The market changes quickly today, but one thing is certain. The internet may be state-of-the-art technology but good old fashioned customer service still rules.
