The basic t-shirt is getting an updated look this fall. Designers and manufacturers are targeting the ladies market with a treasure trove of new styles and techniques that are sure to attract consumers. Promotional clothing, always on the cutting edge of fashion, is looking to fall’s fashion runways to bring buyers the hottest trends.Heavy t-shirts for women are on the way out say style experts. Donna Masket of Impressive Design says that her company is now including the latest trend in tees – sheer t-shirts – with great success. How can a sheer fabric work as a promotional item? “The sheer tee is not truly a sheer,” says Masket. “The fabric is silky, normally Viscose. This did present some initial challenges with embroidery but we quickly worked with our suppliers and made it happen.” Masket goes on to say that certain types of logo applications do not work with this type of fabric but the fashion has far outweighed this for her customers. This type of shirt has become her number two promotional logo seller for women in just one year!
Eco-friendly t-shirts are hot with the ladies market. Recycled t-shirts average 42 percent recycled polyester and 15 percent organic cotton. The advantages of this type of t-shirt, in addition to the environment, are its comfort. The tee is very cool and hard-wearing. With the concerns for the environment, eco-tees will be a big seller for many years to come.
Finally, ladies are wearing more, not less this season. T-shirts are longer. Gone are the t-shirts that ‘bare all’. The current trends focus on longer, fitted tees and layering tees. The deep vee-neck ladies tee is the most popular of the longer length tee, even beating out the always popular scoop neck. Sleeves are also longer this season, and some are broader than normal.
“It’s a simple, urban look,” says Masket. The fabrics are high-quality and tough, the styles are fashionable, and the theme for fall is comfort with a modern twist.
