Emerging designers today have more opportunities to enter the fashion industry then designers did many years ago. In fact, in some cases young or new designers are now able to compete with established designers who have a firm hold in the fashion and clothing marketplace. But for the most part, emerging designers must still find new ways to get the attention of established designers or get lost in anonymity. The well-known designers can create something as simple as black t-shirts and make a stir when those shirts are combined with skinny leggings or trendy jeans. New designers must first break into the industry before their garments get any attention and they can’t really rely on the ordinary for acceptance. Emerging designers must make bold statements with their designs to stand out.Now new designers have a great opportunity to enter the Fashion Designers’ and Craft Makers (FDC) contests and try for a chance to present his or her collection at major fashion shows. Shows like these are attended by fashion buyers and retailers looking for that new trend that will turn into big sales. Also attending major shows are socialites and celebrities who are interested in buying one-of-a-kind clothing.
Fashion contests around the world have become great venues for young designers needing that one opportunity to present. Events such as the FDC contest attract global media and the winner will get to taste the glory of extensive press coverage and attention. Shows sponsoring young designers offer them an excellent chance to experience a major fashion event first hand and the experience is invaluable. The fact is that the next great designer will come from the cream of the crop young designers. Giving them a chance to showcase their talent benefits everyone in the industry.
