Venus Williams Replaces T-Shirts with Lace at French Open

Venus Williams Replaces T-Shirts with Lace at French OpenThe French Open is one of the tennis tournaments of the four that compose the Grand Slam. Every year the French Open is anticipated with much enthusiasm because some believe it is the most exciting and colorful of the set of games. There is never a lack of color and tennis stars sometimes try to use this set of matches to show a little flair in their style including their fashion style.

This year it was Venus Williams who took everyone by surprise. She showed up wearing an outfit that had no resemblance to traditional tennis outfits. Most women tennis players wear either the short tennis dressers or shorts and white tees. Color has been showing up on the courts though so there have been pastel colors worn too. But the Williams outfit looked more like lingerie in red and black with lots of lace.

The tennis world was a bit shocked when Williams wasn’t wearing the traditional knit clothing most tennis players wear. She made it clear she wasn’t interesting in polo shirts or traditional clothing of any kind. The outfit she wore was sexy and suggestive. The pants underneath the corset type outfit were tight fitting and flesh colored. She looked like she was wearing no underwear according to some observers.

Though this is not the first time a female tennis star has worn lace on the tennis court, this is the first time the outfit was so suggestive. Many people were simply not amused. The negative reviews pointed out that the French Open is not a fashion show . It is an athletic event. It is an athletic event that has been known for its professional and quiet atmosphere. It is not supposed to be an event where shocking clothes are worn.

The Venus Williams did not regret her choice of clothing. But if you are interested in playing tennis, it’s probably best to stick with the more traditional plain t-shirts and shorts. Who wants to play tennis in their underwear anyway?
