One of the fashion trends that is so much fun involves accessorizing casual clothes including t-shirts. Women are donning all styles of t-shirts and then making them livelier by adding necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings that would normally be worn with more formal attire. There’s a growing accessories market and one of the reasons is that fashion accessories are now being worn even with the most casual outfits. The industry has been watching this trend closely. As a result, trade exhibit organizers are adding accessory catwalks during the fall and winter fashion shows. Last year at the Birmingham NEC, attendees found the new Accessories at Autumn Catwalk Café which was dedicated to displaying fashion accessories. The Event Director of Emap was Julie Driscoll. She told FashionUnited UK that, “The growth in fashion accessories at Spring Fair International and in the market generally has led us to launch the Accessories at Autumn feature. Our fashion accessories and handbag exhibitors had a phenomenal Spring Fair and are clamouring for us to help them grow this thriving market at Autumn. Our ambition across the two seasons at Autumn and Spring is to build Europe’s largest fashion accessories offering. By working with Emap’s fashion portfolio, we are absolutely leading the way on an international scale in terms of fashion accessories trends.”
The fashion industry has suffered considerably during the recession, but UK businesses are seeing a renewed interest in fashion including accessories. Designers are once again starting to see larger orders for goods placed by buyers. The Autumn Fair International drew 28,688 buyers at its 2009 event and is a major event for fashion businesses including those specializing in accessories and jewelry. With people once again dressing up their cheap t-shirts with beautiful accessories, businesses are hoping the economy has finally turned around. Accessories are here to stay and are showing up once again on catwalks adorning t-shirts.
