T-Shirts and More on Fashion Students' Catwalk

Wednesday 05th of May 2010 07:48:57 PM

T-Shirts and More on Fashion Students' CatwalkHave you ever wondered what you could do with fashion design if given a chance? Would you shred a few black t-shirts and splatter them with fabric paint? Maybe you would mix and match fabrics and create a colorful ensemble. You might also create a vest and helmet-like head covering that would rival any of the fashion pieces seen on London, Paris or New York catwalks.

The Graduate Fashion Week is coming up in early June and third year fashion students have been working diligently to create new collections to display. They recently showed off their work and the clothing pieces were innovative, colorful and impressive. In fact, Karen Miller is a well known fashion name and she said, “What was impressive about the students was the really varied techniques they were using to create some really individual pieces that will look fantastic on the catwalk. It’s good to see the passion and involvement they already have within the industry they want a career in and that’ll definitely stand them in good stead once they graduate.”

The Graduate Fashion Week is held at Earls Court in London and runs from 6-June to 10-June. The students chosen last week to participate in the show attend De Montfort University. A number of fashion schools are represented on the Graduate Fashion Week catwalk. The students from De Montfort University have come from around the world to attend the program. They represent places like Russia, West Midlands, and Zimbabwe, and of course the UK, among others.

The idea of fashion week has been a huge success around the week. Various fashion weeks are held for both established fashion designers and for students like the one coming up in June. These fashion events give designers an opportunity to display their creations in front of professionals across the fashion industry.
