French Designer Loves Sweatshirts

Monday 17th of May 2010 03:19:40 PM

French Designer Loves SweatshirtsDo you ever think of sweatshirts as being trendy high fashion? Do you see them on the bodies of jet setters, bohemian fashion lovers, and or carefree skinny women on the streets of Paris?

Chances are you don’t because sweatshirts have a more mundane purpose for many people other than being a piece of fashion clothing. But check out Mlle. Isabel Marant’s SoHo fashion line of expensive sweatshirts sometime and you just might look at your practical casual sweatshirt hanging in the closet in a new light.

Mlle. Marant fell in love with casual clothing while collecting thrift store clothing including sweatshirts. She came to love sweatshirts, wrinkled well-washed soft shirts, and pants you can throw on and not worry about whether they have laid on the floor overnight. Eventually she began her own fashion collection and the casual thrift store clothing was imitated with flair. Marant’s clothing line includes Army jackets, cowboy shirts with snap buttons, blazers, skirts and much more.

Of course, Mlle. Marant’s clothing does not come cheap with many pieces costing hundreds of dollars. For many shoppers, her fashions are simply too expensive. But that doesn’t mean you can’t recreate the same look for much less. Inexpensive sweaters, for example, are often indistinguishable from the high priced versions. The key is to buy high quality low-priced clothing. You don’t have to spend beyond your budget to create your own fashion look. You’ll be forgiven if you copy the fashion designers like Marant but at a fraction of the cost.

Mlle. Marant’s clothing line is certainly high quality and impressive looking. But bargain shoppers enjoy looking just as fashionable for less money. So go ahead and buy some inexpensive sweats, sweaters, t-shirts or hoodies and mix and match them with other carefully chosen pieces. No one will know your fashion flair didn’t hurt your budget one little bit.
