T-Shirts Win Designer Award

Thursday 10th of December 2009 02:04:56 AM

T-Shirts Win Designer AwardT-shirts are solidly part of the fashion world today. From small business designers to world class fashion design houses, the modest t-shirt takes center stage more and more often. Most recently the 27 year old Christopher Kane won the British Collection of the Year for 2009. Included in his clothing line was the gorilla printed t-shirt that was one of the standout trends for the year.

T-shirts are so versatile they can be work clothing or haute couture. The award Kane received was just one award handed out at the British Fashion Awards 2009 show. There were other awards recognizing British fashion designers who are taking the fashion industry by storm. Christopher Bailey with Burberry won Designer of the Year. Bailey’s creative abilities have enabled Burberry to rework its image and clothing designs and in the process the company has thrived during the current economic crisis. Burberry is 150 years old and was once known for its famous plaid . Now the company is called fashion forward.

Another award winner was Kate Moss. She won the London 25 category as the person who best captures the London fashion spirit.

The annual awards show was called a triumphant success. There were plenty of celebrities in attendance too who came to see the clothing lines that included everything from ‘disheveled’ British to sweaters. Found in the audience were Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, and Donatella Versace. This show gives the British fashion industry a chance to showcase its most outstanding talent. The British Fashion Council has been working diligently to revamp the image of the country’s fashion and clothing industry and the brands given top honors prove the industry is innovative and thriving.

The last few years, Burberry had shown its brand in Milan but not London. The brand was lured back to London and was lauded for its contributions to British fashion. Burberry says it will return to London again next year.
