The March of Dimes raises funds for research in birth defects. Various campaigns are held throughout the year to raise money and a lot of that money is raised by local chapters. The charity uses t-shirts printed with some sort of slogan depending on the promotional campaign held at the time.

A good example is the fund raising campaign recently held by the Alabama Chapter North Central Division. The event was called Blue Jeans for Babies and this sole event raised more than $100,000. The campaign was a joint effort between various organizations and people . What was interesting about this fund raising event is the fact the money was raised through the sale of t-shirts and the collection of donations.

The way the campaign worked was participants wore blue jeans and a Blue Jeans for Babies T-Shirt. The key to success was that the outfit was worn during recreational activities, for daytime wear, at work, at school, and even to church. The shirts promoted the fund raising event and encouraged others to donate.

The March of Dimes has raised millions over the years to help the half a million plus babies who are born prematurely in the U.S. each year and have birth defects as a result. In the state of Alabama alone there are 1 in 6 babies born prematurely. Premature babies have a much greater chance of developing serious and life threatening health problems.

The printed tees are very popular and well recognized by people. The funds are used to pay for research efforts and to find ways to reduce the incidences of premature births. The March of Dimes holds many educational programs and offers free advice to women.
