Fashion Week Tees and Haute Couture

Friday 23rd of October 2009 06:09:18 PM

Fashion Week Tees and Haute CoutureVancouver Fashion Week in Canada will kick off on 3-November-2009. This is an exciting event for the fashion industry in general and especially the Canadian operations. This year the Canadian fashion venue is going international and that is how the fashion industry is surviving in the downturned economy. It is a bonding of like businesses confronted with a customer base that has been reducing the amount of money spent on expensive fashions.

The Vancouver Fashion Week will see over 15,000 people witness an eclectic mix of fashions ranging from sweaters to dresses. There will be fashions for men and women too. It is being billed as a great international and multicultural experience. There will also be a number of celebrities attending also. For example, environmental activist David Suzuki will be there and so will Barenaked Ladies. The fashion week will also host an after-party that features The Hour’s George Stroumboulopoulos. Naturally there will be singers, film industry representatives and media from around the globe.

The producer of this fascinating and lively fashion event is Jamal Abdourahman. He has worked on previous fashion week shows including one held in Paris. This year the Canadian show is being billed as being more globally inclusive. He was quoted as saying, “It will be a truly international event, bringing designers, buyers, and media from signature fashion regions all over the world.”

One of the areas the fashion will focus on is ecological sustainability. There is a growing emphasis in the fashion world to produce designs using fabrics made with fair labor. There will be many fashions made from organically grown fibers for example. But you can still count on one thing. These fashions will be trendy and creative. What is shown at the Vancouver show is sure to attract global attention.
