New Talent Needed in Fashion World

Emerging designers today have more opportunities to enter the fashion industry then designers did many years ago. In fact, young or new designers are now able to compete with established designers who have a firm hold in the fashion and clothing marketplace. The well-known designers can create something as simple as black t-shirts and make a stir when those shirts are combined with skinny leggings or trendy jeans. New designers must first break into the industry before their garments get any attention.

Now those new designers have a great opportunity to enter the Fashion Designers’ and Craft Makers (FDC) contest and try for a chance to present his or her collection at the International Designer Show in New York. This show is attended by fashion buyers and retailers looking for that new trend that will turn into big sales. Also attending the show will be socialites and celebrities who are interested in buying one-of-a-kind clothing.

Fashion contests around the world have become great venues for young designers needed that one opportunity to present. Events such as the FDC contest attract global media and the winner will get to taste the glory of extensive press coverage and attention. This is an excellent chance to experience a major fashion event first hand and the experience is invaluable.

This year the emerging designers must choose their favourite fashion icon from among a list provided and create a unique collection inspired by the established designer. It’s a true challenge to imitate style and yet create original designs at the same time. The theme of the contest is “Homage to a Fashion Leader”. Some of the established designers chosen are Alberta Ferreti, Marc Jacobs, Sonia Rykiel and others. This is a fashion event true to be fun, exciting and challenging.
