The spinning industry is a highly sophisticated and complex one that is always looking for new ways to use technology to its advantage. Yarn has virtually been produced using the same techniques for many decades and few true improvements have been made until recently. It just may be that soon you will see sweaters made with a new spinning technique called compact or condensed spinning which can produce quality products even using course yarn. The current spinning technologies are effective but have proven to have some limitations. Current spinning processes include ring spinning, air-jet spinning, friction spinning and open-end rotor system spinning. Yet all of these techniques have some commercial application limitations including the most productive spinning method, open end rotor system, which cannot handle the course yarns efficiently. That makes the older ring spinning the technique that produces the highest quality yarn in many cases.
Since ring spinning works best on all types of yarn, effort has been put into improving the technology. But now there is an innovation that has led to compact or condensed spinning which may replace the original or conventional ring spinning process in many cases. The newest technology improves productivity, yarn quality and flexibility. The new production process is called Compact Ring Spinning. It produces a compact yarn that is superior to yarn made with the conventional ring spinning process. Some industry experts consider this new process to be the future standard for yarns. Compact Ring Spinning can handle all kinds of raw materials and blends and does not have the limitations found in the older ring spinning techniques.
India is a leading producer of spun yarn and the Indian spinning industry expects to see rapid advancements in techniques thanks to the newest technology. The consumer can expect to see higher quality spun yarn being used in clothing in the near future.
