The Long and Short of Men’s T-Shirts

Friday 28th of August 2009 02:44:48 PM

The Long and Short of Men’s T-ShirtsThe British Fashion Council hosts an event called Menswear Day during the popular London Fashion Week. The event showcases men’s clothing by popular and high end designers. In fact over 25 designers will be presented new styles in men’s slacks, dress shirts, evening wear, trendy outfits, and the ever popular long and short tees and polo shirts.

The show will be held the third week of September and this one day dedicated to menswear is a repeat from the February London Fashion Week. The dedicated menswear day was so popular last season that it is quickly becoming a regular showcase at what was primarily a venue for women’s clothing. Menswear Day will begin at Somerset House with the designs of Carolyn Massey and James Long.

Have you ever wondered how a show determines which designs to include in a show? In this case a panel composed of people from the retail and media industries selected the designers. The end result is an eclectic mix of designers representing emerging and well-established fashion designers.

Fashion designers and brands participating in the show include Blaak, Casely-Hayford, Eastpak, Husam el Odah, Louise Gray, Mr. Hare, Sibling and many others. There will also be designs presented by the recipients of the British Fashion Council’s first Newgen Men talent awards. The awards are sponsored by topman and the first 3 recipients are Cristopher Shannon, J.W. Anderson and Katie Eary.

This event will also include a salon style show in the Portico Rooms of the Somerset House and plenty of celebratory events. Other designers that will be found at Menswear Day include Lou Dalton and Tim Soar. Nicole Fahri will also hold a celebration to market 20 years of men’s clothing designs. If you want to see what’s new in men’s sweaters, t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, trousers and even sweats, this show is the place to be.
