The British Fashion Council has announced it is putting a new structure in place as the organization celebrates 25 years. The British Fashion Council (BFC) is a nonprofit company that is dedicated to promoting British fashion ranging from the high couture fashion on the catwalk to the every day wear tees. The BFC promotes the industry in a number of ways including sponsoring fashion weeks and holding special events designed to gain worldwide attention. The new structure being put into place includes developing a full time management team. The Council has grown in influence and stature over the years to the point where a larger management team is needed with access to resources. The Chairman of the British Fashion Council is Harold Tillman. He announced that the popular London Fashion Week would move to Somerset House beginning in September of this year. In addition, there will now be joint Chief Executives and both of them have extensive experience with the British Fashion Council. Simon Ward and Caroline Rush will replace Hilary Riva. Ms. Riva will be concentrating on future projects.
ms. Riva said, “There are many challenges ahead as well as opportunities. In order to take advantage of the opportunities and to work through the challenges an increased management team is required. I am delighted that both Caroline and Simon, who have been part of the changes we have made to date and who are both committed to achieving our shared goals and vision have agreed to take on these roles. I look forward to now focusing on projects that form part of the BFC’s 25th year legacy strategy and new projects that will be of long term value to the industry.”
