Organic Cotton: An Interview with Jim Needleman, Corporate VP of Sales, Laundry

Organic Cotton: An Interview with Jim Needleman, Corporate VP of Sales, LaundryOrganic cotton is a big seller this spring and predictions say it will continue to do well. Why? Experts feel that as consumers go green they are looking for more and more ways to help the environment flourish. Organic cotton is a great way to help.

Jim Needleman, vice-president of sales with Laundry, has some pretty firm ideas on organic cotton. He should, his company’s products are all made form organic fibers.

In a recent interview with online “ezine” Neddleman was asked how organic cotton clothing helped the environment.

“Organic anything seems to be good for the environment,” Needleman responded. “But, you gotta be careful because something may be advertised as organic and you come to find out its not.”

Needleman says organic cotton helps the environment in many ways. “We buy cotton from India, Egypt, and right here in the United States. By buying organic we are supporting this growing industry. Organic cotton is farmed in ways that reduce the strain on fragile land and is not harmful to human health.”

Organic cotton uses no chemicals at any stage of its growth or processing. Cotton plants are fertilized using natural fertilizers. Cotton is harvested in many cases without the use of heavy fuel consuming machinery. And, Laundry doesn’t use any chemical dyes.

“Our packaging, labels, and such lets the buyer know right away what we are about. It might seem odd but our products are softer than regular cotton because of the lack of harsh finishing treatments and dyes. And as for color – using natural dyes gives us really saturated color choices.”

Organic cotton is more expensive than regular cotton, but not by much. T-shirts and polo shirtsmade form organic cotton are extremely durable, soft, and easy to care for.
