Fashion and health come together every year at the annual Heart Truth Red Dress Collection showcased at the New York Fashion Week. The fashion show is sponsored by the US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and has become one of the highlights of the annual designer event. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute makes the show even more interesting by using celebrities and athletes as models.Though there are plenty of runway shows throughout New York Fashion Week showcasing a variety of fashions from the latest polo shirts to the most elaborate evening dresses, the Red Dress fundraiser has exactly what you would expect…red dresses. The dresses are worn by celebrities and designed by well known and established fashion designers. The purpose of the show is to encourage women’s heart health.
The celebrities participating in the charity show included Lynda Carter, Vivica A. Fox, Cicely Tyson, Susan Lucci and Valerie Bertinelli. Also wearing stunning red dresses were Kristi Yamaguchi, Hilary Duff, and Jennie Garth. Some stars strutted and mugged their way down the runway in sassy styles while others gave a more sedate performance in elegant evening gowns adorned with rhinestones.
You didn’t see any sweatshirts at this show, because it is dedicated, naturally, to various styles of the red dress. There was a red dress with one shoulder bow; one red dress with sequins; a red dress with oversized sleeves; a red chiffon dress; and a strapless red dress. In other words, the annual heart Truth Red Dress Collection showcased a rich variety of stunning red dresses worn by beautiful women. The dresses worn by the celebrities during the show are then auctioned off for the benefit of the Foundation For National Institutes of Health. This popular show has become a staple of the New York Fashion Week which promotes new fashion by both established and emerging designers.
