Textured Jersey Lanka is a maker of weft knit fabric. In fact, it is the largest Sri Lanka manufacturer of this type of material. Weft knit is a form of knitting used to make sweaters and other knitted products. The term ‘weft knitting’ means the wales run perpendicular to the yarn course. The other primary type of knitting is called ‘warp knitting’. In warp knitting, the wales and the courses run parallel rather than perpendicular. Textured Jersey Lanka announced recently the company will be working jointly with Pacific Textiles in Hong Kong and Brandix Lanka in Sri Lanka to increase the manufacturing and sales of weft knit fabric. The company is implementing an investment strategy called ‘FastReact’ planning. FastReact is software specifically designed for use by the Apparel and Textiles industry. The software is a planning tool that can be used for making projections in terms of customer orders, materials needed to fulfil orders and can also report on the status of orders. The software will work in an integrated manner with customers already using the same investment strategy.
Textured Jersey Lanka has set a goal of being the world’s leading supplier of weft knit fabric and plans on reaching $100 million in sales. The Managing Director of the company is Mr. Rohan Goonetilleke. He said, “One area that had previously been a headache for us was the coordination between marketing, planning and production. Numerous meetings were needed to accurately quote delivery dates for customer inquiries. With FastReact we’ve been able to bring all these functions together in one centralised system and respond to customers with an accurate delivery date in half the time it used to take us previously. Reaction from our staff in all areas has been great. Their ‘buy in’ to the process and willingness to embrace the solution has been fantastic.”
