Each year in June the International Advertising Festival Limited hosts the Cannes International Advertising Festival. This festival is held in Cannes which is in the south of France and awards are given in 10 categories. The festival is also called the Cannes Lion, because the trophies are made to look like lions.Last year the company UNIQLO won the Grand Prix in the Titanium and Cyber Sections at the International Advertising Festival. The company won for developing a web based promotion tool called UNIQLOCK. The award was given in recognition of the company’s creativity.
For 2009, UNIQLO is working with the 2009 Cannes Lions festival to offer a contest for the best designed festival t-shirt. Entrants are encouraged to use their creativity and freedom of expression to develop an official t-shirt design for the festival. The contest is open to people around the world and anyone interested is encouraged to submit a design in competition. The purpose of the winning t-shirts is to promote the Cannes Lions festival.
T-shirts make wonderful promotional items when imprinted with a distinctive logo or design. That is why the festival organizers decided to create a worldwide t-shirt design competition. The competition also supports the purpose of the festival itself which is to promote creative advertising. By opening the competition up to people around the world, the festival organizers feel as if they will be able to get the best design possible. The theme of the design must include a lion, because the lion is the symbol of the festival itself. The lion must be the basic theme, but that is really the only limiting requirement. Creative designing can incorporate the lion in any way the designer sees fit. The tees are distributed during the festival.
