Who Will Be Designing Tomorrow’s Sweatshirts?

Tuesday 25th of November 2008 05:10:00 PM

Who Will Be Designing Tomorrow’s Sweatshirts?Giving new designers recognition is important for several reasons. One of the primary reasons is the fact the world learns about the up and coming talent which will be creating the fashion designs of tomorrow. The ones who are winning the emerging talent awards today will be the same people creating styles for everything from sweatshirts to business wear to High Street fashions.

Every year the British Fashion Awards ceremony is held and a new designer is recognized for outstanding achievement. This encourages the designer to continue to pursue his or her profession while also proving the British fashion industry is thriving. This year the newest designers awarded the Emerging Talent Award were Louise Goldin and Nicholas Kirkwood. Goldin won in the ready-to-wear category while Kirkwood won for accessories.

In addition to the emerging talent awards, there are plenty of awards given to fashion designers who have contributed much to the success of the British fashion industry. Stephen Jones won the BFC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design. The awards ceremony is called a glittering affair with primary support coming from Swarovski. In attendance were many celebrities including Claudia Schiffer and Christian Slater.

Nadja Swarovski said, “Swarovski is honoured to support the British Fashion Awards for the third consecutive year. This prestigious annual ceremony creates a platform that supports, recognises and celebrates the ongoing creativity and talent in the industry. This year, we are introducing two new awards, The Emerging Talent Award for Ready to Wear and The Emerging Talent Award for Accessories. We hope that this recognition and the financial support will enable up-and-coming designers to grow, while allowing their creativity to flourish.” The British Fashion Council is more than pleased with the awards given at these events seeing them as well deserved recognition being given to both established and new talent designers.
