October Textiles, Ltd and Chateau Roux Create Shotgun Distress

Tuesday 14th of October 2008 08:01:30 PM

October Textiles, Ltd and Chateau Roux Create Shotgun Distress October Textiles, Ltd and Chateau Roux created an unusual garment material for buyers. At a show called “Shotguns in Soho”, a new print was unveiled that was distressed by shooting the material with a shot gun. The shotgun shell is then sold with garment. The new print was the result of October Textiles, Ltd being asked to create a new random distress pattern. plain t-shirts are shot after application of solvent and water based print.

Naturally, the innovative approach to garment distressing was accepted with awe or disbelief or excitement. Part of the problem the two companies then faced was creating ideas for prints graphics and distressing that are as innovative for the second collection show.

But the company managed to create another collection called “Self Harm” that uses block print and graphic imagery. But what makes the second collection truly unusual is the customer can personalise the distressing of the printing by using a piece of sand paper supplied with the garment. The buyer can do the amount of distressing he or she wants. These unusual t-shirts were made with this unusual graphic and printing technique, but they also carry a message about harming yourself…thus the name.

Chateau Roux is a popular retailer that has stores in the UK and in Europe. The company has been expanding its retail accounts, and fashion buyers have embraced the new prints. Buyers in Europe, the USA and Japan have placed orders for clothing from the “Self Harm” collection. As a result, Chateau Roux has added pieces to its clothing line including denim fashion, jackets, shoes and jewellery.

It will be interesting to see what the third collection looks like, because it will be difficult to find another innovative printing and distressing method such as that used in the first collection.
