The fashion show called "Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief" charity show was held last week. The show was held in support of the White Ribbon Alliance. Offered for the third time, the show was successful largely due to the efforts of celebrities who strutted down runways wearing clothes which will be auctioned off to raise money. The celebrities who participated include Vivienne Westwook, Cheryl Cole, Lizzie Jagger and Roisin Murphy to name a few. The patron of the show was the UK Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown. She sat in with many other people who are celebrities both inside and outside the fashion world. For example, the front row where she sat included Princess Eugenie, Trudie Styler and Nick Knight.
All the fashions were donated by fashion designers including Prada and YSL. The charity, White Ribbon Alliance, helps pregnant women and newborns get proper medical care and other necessities. It is a global organization which is one reason the fund raising charity show attracts people from around the world. Once the show is over, everything worn on the runway plus other donated clothing, including t-shirts and sweaters, are auctioned off. There is an online auction at fashionexchange.co.uk that begins October 3.
A £100,000 was raised at the end of the fashion show when the clothes worn during the event were auctioned immediately. Fashion Exchange is a fashion clothing site on the internet which deals in primarily high-end fashion. The website was launched in April 2008. What makes this site unusual is the fact you can buy and sell your fashion wear. This concept fits well with the trend towards eco-friendly fashion. The fashion industry is making a concerted effort to minimize the use of throw away fashion. The clothes online include high street fashion and designer clothes. You can also buy and sell vintage clothes.
