The Aussies and JC Penney Join Clothing Forces

Thursday 04th of September 2008 09:17:11 PM

The Aussies and JC Penney Join Clothing ForcesIn the United States, one of the largest department stores is JCPenney. The company sells a variety of clothing and home furnishings. Their inventory is quite large and the selection wide. You can shop for everything from kitchenware to blank t-shirts. The retail giant has many departments which cater to men, women, children and infants. It is one of the reasons why the stores are so popular.

Like most major retailers, JCPenney is trying to take advantage of internet shopping. The trends show consumers are buying their clothes and other items online in greater numbers. The big retailers like Penny’s are opening online stores in various countries. JC Penney has recently announced the launching of an Australian site with an Aussie URL. The URL is owned by an Australian licensee. All prices on the site are in Australian dollars and there are bargains galore.

JC Penney has been on the move in terms of expanding its clothing lines and sales. The chain recently announced the introduction of a younger and hipper brand of youth oriented clothing. In July 2008, the company revealed a line of back-to-school clothing which offers affordable yet trendy clothing including jeans, t-shirts and a variety of other junior apparel. The junior brands include lines called Decree, Fabulosity, Kimora, LeTigre and American Living.

JC Penney has over 1,000 stores in the US and Puerto Rico and is already a major online retailer. The Australian site, which is managed by JCPIC Australia Pty, Ltd, is an expansion of a strong online presence. Sharon Hooker, operations manager of JCPIC Australia, was quoted as saying, "Australians are keen shoppers and we expect them to respond well to the opportunities offered by the JCPenney Australia site, to select high-quality and brand name merchandise at prices that compare more favourably than with those locally.”
