Apple fans with entrepreneurial aspirations are turning their lengthy 24 hour or longer waits into lucrative auction money as they sell their commemorative T-shirts on eBay. Those fans who managed to brave the large crowds last Thursday evening at the official Sydney Apple Store opening are selling off their free gift of a blue T-Shirt.
There are several “Apple Store T-shirt” auctions listed on the Australian eBay site. Most of the sellers are insisting that they will ship internationally as they are buoyed by the international interest in the commemorative T-shirt release. There has been a growing interest in the Apple Stores that have been popping up all around the globe. This interest has attracted a new collecting craze for the limited release of the city branded Apple Store memorabilia. The memorabilia is only available with the opening of each store.
One of the overzealous eBay sellers was bold enough to pronounce their position in line as 11th in their listing. The bids on this blue T-shirt were extremely high. The majority of the auctions are going for big money as there are plenty of bidders who are showing interest in the blue T-shirts from Sydney.
There were 2500 “Sydney Apple Store” blue T-shirts which were released to the first people to enter the new store. Each of the shirts are described as geeky hulky sized XL and have date and wave motifs etched into them in commemoration of the store opening. The long lines caused all sorts of varying degrees of commuter chaos as they wrapped around from the middle of George Street all the way back down to Kent Street. However, the lines were enough to prove to those who are devoted to the Apple Brand Stores that some of the best things in life are often worth waiting for, including a commemorative blue T-shirt.
