On May 14, 2008 Asos.com went to the London College of Fashion to meet
with students in their final year of study. The asos.com program, which
is in its second year, seeks to help cultivate the fashion talents of
the future.
This year’s program is called LTD 100. Students were invited to submit up to three pieces of original work. Hundreds of submissions were received. The judging panel then had to pick just 100 pieces to form the collection LTD 100. The judging panel included Asos executives, designer Henry Holland, Emma Elwick from Vogue, model Ben Grimes and Matthew Murphy from London boutique b store.
From the 100, 3 final selections are made. The designers who created the 3 final selections receive not only the honour but also a coveted three month paid position on the Asos design team. The overall first place winner of the best design contest gets to travel with the Asos design team on a trip to one of the world’s fashion capitals.
The pieces from the LTD 100 collection will go on sale at 1 pm on June 16 on asos.com. They will be exclusive, limited edition fashions.
While we won’t know until June 16, if any T-Shirts or Sweatshirts are part of the LTD 100, you can certainly shop asos.com in the meantime. The Summer 2008 Asos.com collection includes Women’s T-Shirts in fun colours and styles. Some are dressy and can be worn with skirts for office or evening wear and others are casual and perfect with shorts or jeans. The Men’s Collections include Polo Shirts in a variety of styles. There are currently 231 different Polo Shirts styles available for men on asos.com.
After you are done shopping on asos.com, be sure to look for the hot new trends by some up and coming UK designers when the LTD 100 collection is revealed next month.
