Yesterday, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer debuted in the United Kingdom. Celebrities from all parts of the entertainment industry including music, television, and radio joined together in an advertising campaign. The goal of the advertising campaign is to raise one million pounds for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity. Celebrities such as Natalie Imbruglia, Anna Friel, Edith Bowman and Alan Carr were photographed wearing their FTBC T-Shirts. The T-Shirts feature a blue and yellow target symbol and the words, “Whatever your reason, wear one.”
Each celebrity has also added his or her own reason for wearing the T-shirt to their advertisement. For the most part, the reasons they gave are meant to make people laugh, not to be serious. For example, one of the men jokes that the T-shirt shows off his man boobs while some of the women joke that they like the colors or that the colors match their eyes. The exception to this trend is Edith Bowman whose mother is in remission after battling breast cancer. Her reason for wearing the T-shirt and advertising for this charity was very simple. Her reason was, “Mum.”
The T-Shirts complement other pieces of summer apparel that are available through FTBC to raise money for breast cancer. The T-Shirts are available at many high street stores or online at http://targetbreastcancer.org.uk.
Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s biggest fundraiser of the year. It raises important money for cancer research and education. This is the 11th year of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and it is always a successful and important fundraiser. So, think about what your reason may be for wearing one of these T-Shirts and supporting breast cancer research and education. This campaign proves that it is possible to look fashionable and support a worthy cause at the same time.
